MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS
FEE-BASED AND GRANT-BASED MIDDLE SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (MSE)
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

For those parents considering going back to work and/or are presently working, there are 11 fee-based and 48 grant funded Middle School Enrichment After School programs that serve Middle School students throughout the Miami-Dade County School district. Each of these programs are staffed with state certified instructors, state certified program managers, or state certified activity leaders who are all prepared to enrich and expand the after school experience of the students they serve .

This year, Miami-Dade County Public Schools will facilitate 59 Middle School Enrichment After School programs on days when school is in session.

All Middle School Enrichment programs provide planned activities, which include homework assistance, indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, snack time and various recreational activities. Many programs offer reading, math, and science tutoring, music, ceramics, chess, drama and other classes designed to provide participants with a variety of educational and enrichment experiences.

M-DCPS Middle School Enrichment After School programs are offered by one of 8 approved providers:

• Miami-Dade County Public Schools MSE Principal Operated: Fee-Based and Grant-Based
• Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA): Fee-Based
• Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA): Fee-Based
• Family Christian Association of America (FCAA): Fee-Based
• Cool Kids Learn (CKL): Fee-Based
• After-School Programs (ASP): Fee-Based
• Sunshine After-School Child Care (SASCC): Fee-Based
• South Florida After-School All Stars (SFASAS): Fee-Based and Grant-Based

  • FEE-BASED MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT 11 MIDDLE SCHOOL LOCATIONS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY ON DAYS WHEN DAY SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. PROGRAM STARTS DIRECTLY AFTER SCHOOL (USUALLY 3:50 P.M. TO 6:00 P.M.) * PROGRAM COST IS $40.00 PER WEEK)
  • GRANT-BASED MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT 48 MIDDLE SCHOOL LOCATIONS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY ON DAYS WHEN DAY SCHOOL IS IN SESSION. PROGRAM STARTS DIRECTLY AFTER SCHOOL (USUALLY 3:50 P.M. TO 6:00 P.M.) * THERE NORMALLY IS NO COST TO THIS PROGRAM.   • M-DCPS DOES NOT CHARGE A STUDENT REGISTRATION FEE HOWEVER STUDENTS WHO WISH TO ENROLL IN ANY FEE-BASED MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM MUST ADHERE TO THE SCHOOL SITE POLICY AS IT PERTAINS TO THE PURCHASE OF STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE. (THE ANNUAL COST FOR STUDENT INSURANCE IS $16.00 FOR GRADE PK TO 6 OR $18.00 FOR GRADE 7 TO 12). (OUTSIDE AGENCY PROVIDERS MAY REQUIRE STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE AND MAY ALSO CHARGE A STUDENT REGISTRATION FEE). IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM MANAGER IF YOU REQUIRE ANY CHANGES ON YOUR CHILD’S REGISTRATION FORM.
  • EACH DAY A SNACK WILL BE PROVIDED AT NO COST TO YOUR CHILD DURING THE MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. PLEASE NOTIFY STAFF OF ANY FOOD ALLERGIES UPON REGISTRATION. IF YOUR CHILD IS UNABLE TO EAT THE SNACKS PROVIDED DURING THE MSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, PLEASE CONTACT THE MSE AFTER SCHOOL OFFICE. IN THIS CASE, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING A NUTRITIOUS SNACK THAT SUITS THE NEEDS OF YOUR CHILD.
  • STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY AND ARE VERIFIED AS HAVING FREE OR REDUCED LUNCH STATUS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT OF $1.00 OFF THE DAILY RATE FOR MSE AFTER SCHOOL AND $2.00 OFF THE DAILY RATE FOR MSE FULL DAY PROGRAM.
  • PARENTS OR GUARDIANS APPROVED TO RECEIVE SUBSIDIZED CHILD CARE THROUGH THE EARLY LEARNING COALITION (ELC) MUST ADHERE TO THE GUIDELINES AS OUTLINED IN THE PARENTS RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR SERVICE FORM. STUDENTS APPROVED TO RECEIVE ELC FUNDS MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A SUBSIDIZED ALLOTMENT THAT WILL OFF-SET THE COST FOR THE AFTER SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM BY UP TO $8.00 PER DAY (PART-TIME RATE) AND FOR THE ALL DAY SCHOOL CARE PROGRAM, UP TO $16.60 PER DAY (FULL-TIME RATE). PARENTS OR GUARDIANS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROGRAM FEES THAT ARE IN EXCESS OF THE SUBSIDIZED VOUCHER AMOUNT. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, THE ELC CAN BE REACHED AT 305-514-6000.
